This Week's Featured Pet!

Cliff.jpg

"Cliff"

I'm Cliff, and I came to the Shelter as a stray, so they don't know a whole lot about me.  I am a short-haired brown tabby. I'm about 2 years old, am a neutered male, and am also front declawed. I was very lucky when I got lost, as a very nice lady found me and took care of me.  She looked for my previous family and even took me to the vet to be sure I was OK.  Then she helped me come to the Shelter, because she just couldn't keep me (she already has 4 cats!).  I've heard about all the bad things that can happen to stray cats, so I know how lucky I really was.  I've settled in here at the Shelter and am living in Kitty City .  It's very nice, but I'd still rather have my very own home again.  I'm a gentle, sweet guy, who prefers a calm, quiet lifestyle.  I'd love to spend time with you on the couch, maybe reading or watching TV.  I know I'm just the guy to keep you company!  If you have the kind of home where you think I'd fit in, please apply to adopt me!  If you're interested in adopting me please fill out and submit an application online. Just go to the Clark County Humane Society website (listed below) and follow the menu to the application form. You may also come to the Shelter to visit me and fill out an application. The process is explained on the website. We have 92 cats and dogs in our custody at the Shelter now so the selection is great! You may see pictures of our pets and read about them too on the Very Best Pet Network board at the Marshfield Wal-Mart.

Volunteers: We are still looking for people who may have a little time to help us care for the animals here, especially the dogs. This is a wonderful no-kill Shelter and we have lots of things for you to do. You may choose from walking dogs, helping with training, cleaning, yardwork, brushing dogs coats, foster care of little kittens or puppies who are too small to be here yet, just playing with some of the dogs who need extra attention and many other tasks too. Please go to our website and email your volunteer application in or call us. It will only take 5 minutes to fill in the form and to get on our list of helpers and it's such a rewarding thing to do. You'll be very happy knowing that you've helped to make the pets lives a little better while they stay with us.

We offer microchipping for cats and dogs. Free registration for life, and a tag for them to wear all for only $10. Please call for info.

Look at my sweet little face. Who couldn’t love me?  Well, someone lost me at one time and never came looking for me. You’d think they’d be missing a nice little dog like me. I am a male, Beagle/Blue Heeler mix, about 2 years old and very friendly. My brother Bobby is here with me. If you are interested in adopting either of us please fill out and submit an application online. It's real easy. Just go to the Clark County Humane Society website (listed below) and follow the menu to the application form. You may also come to the Shelter to visit me and then fill out an application here. The whole process is explained on the website. The Shelter is stuffed full of cats and dogs right now so the selection is just great! You may also see many pictures of our pets and read about them too on the Very Best Pet Network board at the Marshfield Wal-Mart.

Strays:  This is the time of the year that dogs like to run. The Shelter is flooded with stray dogs from all over the area. Whether they are chasing squirrels or rabbits, searching for a mate or just out there running because they can, it’s a dangerous pursuit. They could be stolen, hit by cars, engaged in fights with other dogs or animals, and may pick up communicable and life-threatening diseases. Someone is responsible for them being loose. Being a good pet owner carries with it certain responsibilities. Among them is ensuring your pets safety. We are amazed at the numbers of stray pets that come into the Shelter each week. Many of them have no form of ID at all. The worst part of it is that often people don’t make any effort to find their pets after they’ve run off. All it takes is a call to the Shelter to fill out a missing pet report. That enables us to watch for the cat or dog and then to contact the owner when the pet has been located. People who have found a stray should also call it in. If our open hours are inconvenient for your schedule, you can fill out the lost and found reports online by going to our website (listed below). There is no excuse in today’s world for not having proper ID on the dogs. This can be in the form of a rabies tag, a license tag or best of all, a microchip. Please be a good pet-owner and properly tag or identify your dog. Better yet, keep them on your own property, in the house or properly confined to your yard where they will be safe.

I am too cute for words! Most people see me and they say “she looks like a little fox” and of course they are right. I am one foxy little dog. I was born into a puppymill situation and used as a breeder for many years. I never got out of my cage and never had playtime, holding, petting or any other normal dog activities. I am still sweet after all of that however, and would really make a very nice pet for just the right person. I’m a female Shiba Inu, 8 years old and I only weigh 18#. I am timid but will come around and be your best friend in no time at all if you show me some love and attention. If you are interested in adopting me please fill out and submit an application online.

Puppymills:  Wisconsin, and in particular, the north end of Clark County, is becoming well-known as a major puppymill area. This despicable business makes a profit on the misery of adult “breeder” dogs who spend their lives in cages and crank out litter after litter. When they are “used up” and no longer producing, the millers will sell them off to anyone who wants them. We have obtained several of the outcast puppymill dogs and they’re going to be available for adoption as soon as we can get them healthy and socialized. Often, mill dogs are emotionless, no wagging tails, no sound of any kind and sometimes they don’t even know how to walk. All they’ve ever known is a small cage. They’ve never been cuddled or held. We are determined to get their spirits back into them and place them into homes where they will get the love they deserve.

If you have any spare time, please consider coming to the Shelter during open hours to help socialize these special little creatures. It’s very rewarding to see them come out of their shell of indifference and blossom into happy little dogs. All you have to do is hold them, talk to them, help them learn to walk on a leash, brush them and let them know their life has changed for the better.

"Barry"

Well now, aren’t I just cute? My name is Barry and I’m a little 7 month old, short-haired, orange tabby male. Everyone here says I’m a pepperpot. I think that means I like to play …… a lot! It’s my favorite thing in life right now. I was a very sick little kitty when I first got here but have recovered nicely and now I want a home and family of my own. I promise I won’t shred everything in the house if you provide me with enough toys. An active family who loves to play with their pets is just what I’m looking for. If you want a lapsitter there are plenty of those at the Shelter but it sure isn’t me! If you are interested in adopting me please fill out and submit an application online. It's real easy. Just go to the Clark County Humane Society website (listed below) and follow the menu to the application form. You may also come to the Shelter to visit me and then fill o ut an application here. The whole process is explained on the website. The Shelter is stuffed full of cats and dogs right now so the selection is just great! You may also see many pictures of our pets and read about them too on the Very Best Pet Network board at the Marshfield Walmart.

We offer inexpensive microchipping for your pets. If you love them and don't want to lose them, call us for details.

I like looking at the world a little differently. Each time they tried to take my picture I was so busy rolling around and enjoying life upside down and sideways that they finally gave up and said “Oh for goodness sake, let’s just print it this way”. See, us cats always win if we just hold out long enough. I am appropriately named because I have a solid, thick and shiny coat of black. I’m a 13#, 2 year old, neutered male and I just love to play and be petted. If you are interested in adopting me please fill out and submit an application online. It's real easy. Just go to the Clark County Humane Society website (listed below) and follow the menu to the application form. You may also come to the Shelter to visit me and then fill out an application here. Puppymills  Well, we’re off to monitor another sale of “unwanted merchandise”. A sale where people get rid of dogs that “don’t produce” or just aren’t profitable enough anymore. There will also be the “excess” puppies, “accidental” litters, etc. It’s always a sad event. The public thinks they’re getting a great pet for a cheap price. What they’re usually getting is a lot of medical expenses and an unsocialized animal. Often the dogs and puppies from these sales need extensive veterinary care just to get rid of the common things like fleas, earmites, upper respiratory infections and a host of genetic defects. The major ity of the “purebred” dogs are from puppymillers who have a vested interest in cranking through as many puppies as possible in as short an amount of time as they can. The less money they spend on medical care the more profit they make. The food they feed is usually the cheapest they can find. Dogs are stacked in crates in barns and never get exercise or socialization. Oftentimes a puppymiller will have 5 – 10 different breeds for sale. Many of these dogs have never been held or petted. They are only in the business for the money. We ask you to please not buy dogs from puppymills. It continues the lives of misery that the dogs live. If you must have a purebred dog, check your local shelter or go to a legitimate breeder, one who specializes in just that breed. Feel free to contact us with any questions.

Just look at me. Aren’t I gorgeous? There are a lot of cats here at the Shelter, but I must say, I’m the prettiest! Oh sure there are black ones, torties, tabbies, calicos and all kinds of other colors, but I’m the only white one and proud of it. I was found as a stray, I’m spayed now, weigh about 10# and they say I’m 3 years old. I get along well with other cats and I’m very friendly with people. Guess I’m about perfect!  If you are interested in adopting me please fill out and submit an application online. It's real easy. Just go to the Clark County Humane Society website (listed below) and follow the menu to the application form. You may also come to the Shelter to visit me and then fill out an application here. Volunteers  We’re hoping to build up our volunteer team now. This is a very rewarding thing to do, either as an individual or as a team of friends or family. Many of our volunteers have been with us for years. They say there’s just something special about helping animals have a better life. Sometimes people think that a Shelter is a sad place and that may be true of lots of them, but not CCHS. This is a very clean, bright, upbeat kind of Shelter and we are doing lots of great things for the animals in our care. It's very fulfilling to watch them go through the stages of coming in as a scared or sick animal and in the end leaving with their new family, a happy and healthy pet who's future is guaranteed to be a good one. If y ou have a little extra time, a heart that needs some healing or you just like to help, please go to our website (www.cchs-petshelter.org) look on the left-hand side and click on Volunteer. Fill out and submit the volunteer form online. We will be in touch with you in shortly. You can also stop in, get a tour, see what we do here and then decide if you'd like to help us by volunteering. We have orientation and training sessions coming up soon so if you're thinking about getting involved don't hesitate. Get in touch now. You'll be glad you did.

Tia.jpg

"Tia & Tamara"
Tia, pictured here, and her sister Tamara, are identical in looks. They are super girls who have those gentle hound personalities, yet hound bark, so they're definitely seeking a country home.

We'd certainly prefer to keep the two girls together, but we realize that might not be possible. They are beautiful, purebred black and tan coonhound dogs, whose past is unknown since they were strays. We obviously cannot say if they've been hunted or had any training to hunt, but they would be a great pair of girls to love as pets.

Please realize it is a requirement of any shelter that rescue dogs not be bred. We therefore require spaying them if not already done at the time of adoption. Many ask why we require such a rule for purebreds, and our reply is always "Vets don't charge more to spay and neuter purebreds than they do mix breeds!" We usually receive a confused look. We are here due to the huge amount of abandoned and stray pets that walk through our door each year. By allowing a pet to go unaltered, we've just gone from one homeless pet and added another four to 12 more each year, for about the next 10 years of that dog's life. If you do not agree with our policy, these are not the dogs for you.

They are great, social, young and playful girls looking for a home, so if you can give a couple twin sweeties a home, please submit your application. We also have a cute beagle boy named Bogart, as well as an English coonhound named Gabby who's super sweet and spayed, but 8 years old. Cutter, our neutered bluetick hound, is a great people-friendly boy who has a leaking salivary gland due to being hit by a car prior to coming in. All it means is he has a lump on the side of his throat (totally noncancerous). Both those hounds have been with us since spring, so please open your heart and home.

The Clark County Humane Shelter is 7 1/2 miles southeast of Neillsville on Highway 73, P.O. Box 127, Neillsville WI 54456. Call 743-4550 or log on to www.cchs-petshelter.org. The shelter is open from noon to 3 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Shelties.jpg

"Roskers, Roscoe, & Whiskers"
Hi, I'm Roskers, a 9-month-old, 26-pound boy who came in with my mom and dad, Roscoe (3 years, 21 pounds) and Whiskers (2 years, 19 pounds). We're all gorgeous Shelties looking for love. We had to be given up since our owner ended up with severe health problems and was no longer able to care for us.

Clark County Humane Society was not given our papers, but we're said to be purebreds -- not show quality, but it's on the inside that counts, right? We're just adorable and sweet dogs, but please be sure to research our breed before applying. You need to be an owner who can commit to brushing and realize we will certainly do our fair share of shedding, but nothing regular trips to the groomer can't help.

We'll make super family pets, however, we are not recommended for young children as most Shelties have the herding instinct. Plus, we're still a bit shy, and little kids are going to overwhelm us. We simply didn't receive the socialization or training we should have, so a patient and loving home that will cuddle us and teach us a few tricks is what we need.

We're all sweet, beautiful and wonderful dogs who need an owner equally as nice. We're excellent with other animals and would prefer to go to a home with another dog to show us the ropes and keep us company, as that's what we're used to. We all have the cute little Sheltie prance everyone loves, darling faces and that happy Sheltie "talk" when we're excited.

If you can open your heart and home to a wonderful dog, be sure to go online and submit your application. Our $75 adoption fee includes our basic vaccines, worming, exam, temperament test, microchip and free ID tag.

Remember to check out our Web site or the Very Pet Network board at the Marshfield Wal-Mart for adoptable pets. If you cannot adopt at this time, please consider donating. Due to an increased number of pets this year, we're running out of cleaning supplies and desperately need bleach and Pinesol.

tigers.jpg

TIGERS!!
Have you ever dreamed of owning a real, live, tiger after seeing those magnificent cats at the zoo? Well don't look at Clark County Humane Society for one since we only have the "mini" version.

The mini version is just as nice though, and they won't take up as much room in bed at night, won't knock you across the room in play and certainly won't crush you when they cuddle on your lap. They do still have those gorgeous markings with super playful and purring personalities packed inside a sweet 9-week-old kitten body.

We have several litters of these cuties, some lighter and some darker striped, and some with spots. All beautiful, all sweet and all ready to find their new forever homes.

We couldn't pass up the chance to name them all after tigers, so we have them all, from Tony the Tiger to Tiger Woods.

If you own a cat and think your pet needs a friend, we agree Maybe you or your children need a snuggle buddy. We can assist you with that as well. If you're just looking for a great little kitten, raised by children, who love to cuddle, love to purr and love to play or if you always have been in love with real tigers, one of these little angels might be just what you need in your life.

We have males and females, as well as kittens and cats of all other colors right now too, most adults are spayed and neutered, and several are declawed. If you can open your heart and home to a rescued pet, please stop down, go on our Web site or visit the Marshfield Wal-Mart's Very Best Pet Network board located in the pet department. Adoption fee is only $25 and covers an exam, worming, vaccinations, ear mite/flea treatment, microchip, ID tag, food sample and a free DVD to start the transition off right. You can't beat the price, and won't find a better selection of wonderful kittens.

PhotoContestPOW.jpg

"Photo Contest"
Hey Moose, did you hear there is a photo contest coming up soon to help our Shelter? We could win up to $200 in gift cards! Yes Scarecrow, I've already got a few photos entered, but if I can get my hands on that one they just took of you with your mouth wide open, I'll enter that too! The deadline to enter photos is August 31st, so hopefully people get those photos coming into us soon since this is going to be a great fundraiser for the Shelter! It helps fund special needs pets who wouldn't have stood a chance for adoption at most other shelters, and as you remember last year buddy, we came from the Juneau County Shelter, along with 38 other pets. We ourselves ran up quite a vet bill! It's nice the Shelter made several hundred dollars off this contest last year to be able to help us when we were in need! Since this is the 2nd annual photo contest for CCHS, they are really hoping to have more entries than last year! It will be tough to beat, but with all the people who love their pets out there, and love to help innocent homeless pets like us, I know we can surpass last years entries! The categories have changed a little this year for even more fun! They are "Most Unusual, Best Pose, Best Costume & Pet / Owner Look-a-like"  --- if only there was a cute, red-haired owner out there for me, I would win! Your owner Scarecrow would have to be ghostly white with gray hair & then walk into a wall to give them a big bruise on their nose to match you....plus they'd have to have a BIG mouth too! Just kidding, buddy!

ENTRY RULES
Include on the back of the photo your name, pet name, address & phone, as well as the category you'd like to enter. Not sure of the best category? Let CCHS decide for you! There is no limit to the amount of photos you can enter, and this contest is open to anyone in the USA! Photos must be taken by yourself or immediate family, and cropping is allowed, but not image editing or writing on the front. There is only a $5 entering donation per photo. All photos become property of CCHS unless a SASE is provided with the entry. Prints may be digital, regular, but not professionally taken. Black & white or color photos are eligible with sizes up to a 5x7. Photos will be on display at the shelter AND our website for the public to vote between Sept 5 -  Sept 20. A $50 Wal-mart gift card will be awarded to the 1st place winner in each category by mail, plus you could see your photo used in CCHS publicity too! Photos should be mailed to the PO Box below. Time is running short, so please get those cameras going! This is the best photo contest around, helping a terrific NO-KILL Shelter saving the lives of hundreds of pets each year. The more money we take in, the more pets we can spay/neuter & the more lives we can save! Please support us in this fun fundraiser & don't delay as it ends NEXT MONTH! For completer details go the the CCHS website shown below.

GREAT ADOPTIONS!
Moose & Scarecrow were with us since last Nov, but were delighted to each join a family this past weekend at our adoption fair! It has proved to be a very successful event for us at the Northway Mall, however our cages we store there are MISSING! It is not your fault if you took a cage, since word got around that they were free --- but this was their mistake, we need those cages, cardholders and tablecloths back!! If you or someone else has one, please please please let us know, drop them back off at CCHS, or in the mall maintenance room. No questions asked, we just NEED our caging back! Thanks for everyone who will be looking for & returning them!!

LibbyPOW.jpg

"Libby"

Hi I'm Libby! I'm one happy, beautiful girl! I am a 4 yr old light yellow Husky mix and am ready to find my new forever family...can you help me? It's kind of sad, but I've been passed around to 3 different homes now simply because their lives changed too much. I'm a wonderful dog and my last family said I was a perfect angel, but they were severely allergic. I am housebroken and trusted loose inside the house while they are gone...plus I've been left alone for 12 hours and was perfect! I'm great with cats, and in fact lived with 5, which I slept by and played with. There were also 2 other dogs in my home, but I do prefer to be the "top dog". I am good with strangers and for the most part am a fairly calm girl...yet still L OVE to play! I do know my name well, love to go for car rides & walks, plus crave attention! I would like a family who will let me sleep on their bed at night sometimes and then give me a few tummy rubs during the daytime. My owner said I do cock my head to the side when you talk to me, which is really cute, plus I love to play tug of war & fetch...however I'm a great ball chaser, just not one to bring it back to you, but maybe we could work on that? I am medium-sized (shorter than a typical Husky) but will try to sit right on your lap if you let me, and of course give you kisses! I am a very smart girl and have already been trained, so if you're looking for a very pretty girl, with a wonderful smile, we could be great new buddies! I know "sit, shake, down, come, drop-it, stay, speak, roll over, treat, toy, ride, walk & outside"! If you are a Husky lover, I'm a true gem, but if you're new to the breed we might not be a good match since I have many of those characteristics. Please research my breed, so I'm not given up again! I do have a "mouthy" tendency when I play, which isn't aggressive at all, but just how my breed is and I have that great Husky talk when told to "speak" which some love & others don't. Plus I am a shedder, but nothing a few trips to the groomer can't fix! I did live with small kids for a while, but because I can play hard, and love to give a lot of face kisses, I'm not recommended to a home with little kids as I'll be too overwhelming. If you are looking for a sweet, cuddly dog to be happily waiting when you come home from a hard day at work, I promise to give you tons of kisses if you give me a forever home!

PunkyPOW.jpg

"PUNKY"

Hello to all the people who have been keeping up on the Juneau County rescue story and have been good supporters of our shelter.  I am "Punky", one of the cats rescued & boy am I a fabulous, out-going, and SUPER playful guy! I was one of the very few lucky cats from the Juneau County H.S. rescue that was able to be put up for adoption within a few weeks.! I'm about a year and a half old now & was born at that shelter! I absolutely love it here since they have a large cat room "Kitty City" where we can be loose 24/7! My friends and  I sure do enjoy snuggling up together and cleaning each other when it's not playtime, so I would really enjoy being adopted with one of them if possible, or at least go to a home with other social kitties! If you're looking for a snuggle bug, now is the time to stop down to CCHS and visit some of us! (We are vaccinated, wormed, vet checked, flea free & mic rochipped...plus most of us are neutered/spayed, all  for only $25!) If you can't adopt, but are looking to give a little support to us needy furry friends, stop down & get a tour! CCHS is VERY thankful to all who've donated food to feed us, but we are still currently in need of cleaning supplies like Bleach & Pine Sol....but most of all money. I hate to sound greedy, but when someone showed me a dollar the other day, I took it! I know it will help CCHS with the vet bills that average over $900/month  right now, which is going to continue to rise these next few months! Dr Jean at Grassland Vet is a wonderful lady who gives the shelter a great discount & super care to all of us, but money adds up fast when it's being spent as we all know! Dr Kubica at Castlerock also spayed / neutered 4 of my buddies for FREE, which was a super big help! We are just so thankful to all who have helped & been so supportive, but if you have any extra change, please consider helping my friends who are still struggling with medical problems. Our area has proved to be one of the finest the way they have pulled together with donations & support so we thank each one of you! Please do come visit the pets CCHS saved...it's 'cheap entertainment' for the family...plus fun too! And if you still remember that  New Years Resolution about losing weight or volunteering, CCHS can help you with both! We have dogs that crave the walks, some who need to be taught basic commands & others who may have been abused in their past lives and  just need reassurance. We desperately need cat & dog cleaners/feeder weekdays & weekends, AMs & PMs...so stop down & check us out! You may fill out the volunteer form online as well as view all of our adoptable pets. You may also see pictures of adoptable pets on the Very Best Pet Network board in the pet supplies area at the Marshfield WalMart. Again, we thank all of you  for your generosity and look forward to seeing everyone stop down and visit us during our open hours!

Wiggums.jpg

"WIGGUMS"

I'm Wiggums, named because I'm a "wiggle butt!" I'm an awesome safe & sweet boy who's kid friendly, pet friendly & adores people! I'm only medium in size weighing 43 # so would be an ideal new family pet if you like the short, stocky little guys!  I am "just a mix" as people say, but have an adorable face that is always smiling! I'm super happy, super outgoing and never shy. I'm only about 2 yrs old, love to play, and LOVE to get my tummy rubbed! Since I'm young, I would love a family that is going to go on walks, hiking, or jogging with me...but also one who is going to give me time to snuggle up in your lap too! I'm of course the "always passed over black-colored dog", so if y ou can look past color, that would be great since many people won't even consider me because of it. I do have the white speckled chest & feet, as well as a 6" long "stub tail" which makes me extra cute when I wiggle it!  If you're looking for a Sheltie-sized dog, and want a safe, fun boy to love, I could be just what you're looking for! I'm already crate trained & may be housebroken too...plus I'm neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, vet-checked, come with 30 days free pet insurance & an ID tag for my $50 adoption fee! Don't forget to check the Very Best Pet Network board at WalMart in Marshfield for more adoptable pets.

Triton.jpg

"TRITON"

Do you remember me, the heartworm & lymes positive dog? I'm still waiting for a home!! I came in with frost & fly-bitten ears, I had horrible, horrible stomach problems that had gone untreated for quite some time. I was in a lot of pain & it wasn't fair. Imagine being so cold in the winter your ear tips freeze off & have flies chew off even more in the hot summer weather. It was sad, but I just know someone is going to fall in love with my great disposition! It's amazing that I still trust people. Upon my arrival at CCHS they took X-rays and discovered that I had been shot several times, including once right in the head.. Can you believe it? I had a hole in my head, and several in my legs & feet! There was a lot of pain, but CCHS has spent a ton of money getting me fixed up because I'm worth it. I came in such a sad, spirit-crushed boy, who is now always smiling & willing to go out for a walk! I now love life again and am certainly not read y to cross the rainbow bridge yet...but had I gone to any other shelter, chances are I would have been put down right away simply due to my age alone. Yes, I know i'm not "highly adoptable", but does that mean I'm not worth loving? All it takes is one family to come forward and rescue me...is that you, pleeeease? I am about 9 yrs old, housebroken and know the basic commands, leashwalk very well and have a beautiful snow-white coat! I'm a medium to large shepherd mix and am just as lovable as they come! I like to sleep in your bed at night, and really want nothing more than an easy going, loving home. Due to the huge amount of money CCHS has spent on me, I certainly need families to sponsor me with donations...could you spare a little change? I pretty much drained the "special needs" fund, so please contribute so they can continue helping more pets like me, who are sadly far too common. To make it easier, you can even donate safely on our website! Please stop by & see me too! If you think you could give me a great home these next few years, it would mean the world to me & all the volunteers at the shelter who've come to love my gentle personality. I know everyone wants the young dogs, the purebred dogs and the playful dogs, but there has just got to be someone who can give me a great life for whatever time I have left. Maybe I won't live 7 more years, but the feeling you'll have knowing you helped support a no-kill shelter who is saving lives like mine who otherwise wouldn't have stood a chance, is going to be a priceless feeling. Please consider me!

You can view & apply for pets online on our website listed below, or stop in to see the Very Best Pet Network board at the Marshfield Wal-Mart near the pet dept and view adoptable pet photos.

Don't forget to save your aluminum cans for us. You can drop them off at the shelter any time it's convenient for you. It's a great way to help support the work of the shelter.

"Tiger & Friends"

I'm Tiger, (in the middle) a 6.5 yr old Lhasa Apso and these are a few of my friends. The shelter currently has a few small dogs, which is rare! Please read about our individual "profiles" online to see if we'd be a good match for your family! Plus, you can even apply for us online too! If you don't have the Internet, please call ahead of time to be sure we're still available. The Very Best Pet Network board at Marshfield Walmart also features many other great pets to choose from! Have you really ever seen a better bunch of pets than my buddies pictured here? And we were all given up at no fault of our own! Shelter pets are very often stereotyped as "problem pets". Thi s couldn't be futher from the truth! Most come in because the kids lost interest, families moved or have allergies. Rarely is it EVER our fault! So now that the warm weather is here and the kids are home from school...please consider a shelter pet! Why support a puppymill breeder when you can save a life and rescue a pet?

We're all vet-checked, wormed, vaccinated, flea/ear mite treated, microchipped, probably spayed / neutered already and temperament tested with 30 days free pet insurance & a free ID tag!

If you cannot adopt a pet, please consider helping us. We don't want people to think of our shelter as a "sad place" where they feel the need to adopt every pet. Remember, all our pets will all find homes since we don't have time limits!! Our shelter is a happy, cheerful, fun place where only a few hours a month of your time can make a world of difference to these fuzzy faces! These are pets who will now have a super family who pampers them because we carefully screen homes. In the meantime, dogs get more exercise & socializing with other dogs than most families can provide, and some even get to swim! The cats can join our cat room, Kitty City, so they can snuggle up with other kitty friends and not have to be in a cage after they are pronounced healthy! Please join our team by stopping in, calling, or sending us an email! Our volunteer signup form is also online. We're always looking for cleaners, feeders, socializers, office help and people to stop down on open days just to spend time with the pets.
